Powerball & Mega Millions will go head-to-head in two of Americaâ€™s biggest lottery playing states. This spring will see the welcome addition of California into the Powerball and Florida into the Mega Millions;Â without doubt the two greatest weekly lottery draws in the world.
The Golden State will become the 45th state to play the Powerball and with tickets going on sale April 8th, 2013 they will be just in time for the drawing April 10th, 2013. Powerball record jackpot is $587.5 million, which was won on November 28, 2012 and was shared between two ticket holders; Matthew Good from Arizona and Cindy and Mark Hill from Missouri.
Mega Millions record jackpot is $656 million, which was won March 30, 2012 and was shared by 3 winning tickets $218.6 million each by anonymous in Ottawa, KS; Merle and Patricia Butler of Red Bud, IL and The Three Amigos in Milford Mill, MD.

How do I play the Powerball and Mega Millions?
Powerball draw five white balls out of a drum with 59 balls and one red ball out of a drum with 35 red balls. Players can win in one of 9 Ways; the jackpot, won by matching all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball. The second prize is won by matching five white balls in any order is $1,000,000 paid in cash and any time you match the red Powerball, you win. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are approximately 1 in 32.
Mega Millions players have to pick six numbers from two pools of numbers – 5 numbers from 1 to 56 and 1 number from 1 to 46; or Players can select Easy Pick. Players win the jackpot by matching all six numbers drawn. As well as the jackpot, there are other prizes from $2 to $250,000.
