America’s newest interstate lottery, Monopoly Millionaires’ Club, is set to hold its first drawing tonight and will offer an initial jackpot of $15 million. A total of 23 U.S. lotteries began selling tickets for the game on Sunday 19th October. Several other states have announced plans to join Monopoly Millionaires’ Club early next year.
The game is designed to offer more top prizes to more players, which means that the jackpot will be capped at $25 million, and a special side game will offer multiple prizes of $1 million so that prize money has the potential to be distributed among a greater number of winners.
Tickets cost $5 each and players pick five numbers from 1 to 52. A random “property†number is then generated on their ticket, along with a Millionaires’ Club number that could net them $1 million if someone else hits the jackpot in the same draw. If the jackpot rolls over and increases in value, more people have the potential to win this supplementary prize.
To win the jackpot, players must match all five main numbers drawn as well as the “property†number based on the popular board game. Players can win cash prizes for matching as few as two main numbers.
In addition to the lottery game, an accompanying television show will start in early 2015. Hosted by actor Billy Gardell, the show will offer additional prizes and a chance to play a live game to players who submit tickets to an online account and accrue entries based on the “property†numbers on their tickets. Once they earn enough of these to create a monopoly, they will receive a certain number of entries that could see them take off to Las Vegas and take part in the new show.
Monopoly Millionaires’ Club tickets can be purchased through authorized retailers of all participating state and regional lotteries. To learn more about the game and how to play in your area, visit the Monopoly Millionaires’ Club page at Lottery.net.
