Sunday August 25 2013 – The third and final winner of the $448 million Powerball jackpot which was won on August 7 2013 has finally come forward to claim their prize.
The lucky winner has been named as Mario Scarnici of Monmouth Junction, who purchased his ticket at the Stop and Shop supermarket on Summerfield Boulevard, South Brunswick. Stop and Shop will receive a $30,000 bonus cheque for selling the winning ticket, which they have pledged to donate to charity.
The New Jersey Lottery have yet to confirm whether or not Mr Scarnici will be talking to the media in more detail about his win, as lottery winners in the state are not obliged to release any more information other than their name.
Scarnici is the seventh New Jersey jackpot winner so far this year, following in the footsteps of Pedro Quezada (who won $338 million on Powerball in March), Guiseppe “Joe” Garofalo (who won $190 million on Mega Millions in May) and of course, the Oceans 16 syndicate with whom Scarnici shared his fortune.
Scarnici opted for the cash option which equated to $62 million after taxes and arrived at Lottery HQ to collect his prize with his two grown up sons. LotteryWorld will bring you more on latest Powerball millionaire, Mario Scarnici, as and when it becomes available.
