Powerball Jackpot Hits $289 Million

The Powerball top prize has soared to $289 million after Wednesday’s draw failed to produce a jackpot winner. The game has been rolling over since November 29th of last year, with the jackpot quickly growing to nine figures by Wednesday, December 24th 2014.

Wednesday’s winning Powerball line was 12, 24, 35, 36 and 49 with Powerball 1 and Power Play 5. Four ticket holders from Georgia, North Carolina, New York State and South Carolina all matched five main numbers to win $1 million each. Another seven participants matched four main numbers, the Powerball and the Power Play number to snap up $50,000 each. The rest of the prizes distributed on the night were worth between $4 for matching just the Powerball (or one number and the Powerball) and $10,000 for matching four main numbers and the Powerball.

If no one wins the top prize on Saturday night, then it’s highly likely that the Powerball jackpot for Wednesday 4th February will shoot past $300 million, an amount not seen since a rollover streak in late January and early February 2014 saw the top prize hit $425.3 million, when it was claimed by B. Raymond Buxton from Northern California.

There’s still time to grab Powerball tickets from authorized retailers across the country. If you’re new to the interstate lottery game and would like to know more about how it works before you take a chance on it, visit the Powerball lottery page at Lottery.net.

Powerball Jackpot Surpasses the $100 Million Mark

Powerball NewsThursday January 16 2014 – The Powerball jackpot is now worth $113 million after ticket holders in last night’s draw failed to match all five main numbers and the Powerball drawn.

Although no players hit the jackpot, the results revealed that 484,617 ticket holders won a prize. Three ticket holders from Georgia, New Jersey and New Mexico matched all five main numbers to win $1 million each. Lottery officials from all three states have yet to release information on where the winning $1 million tickets were purchased.

In addition to the Match 5 winners, 42 ticket holders matched four main numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000. Seven of the winners opted for the Power Play which meant their win increased to $40,000. For further information on Powerball, visit Powerball.net.

As there is now a jackpot in excess of $100 million at stake, ticket sales for Saturday’s draw are sure to rise so it is advisable for players to purchase their tickets for Saturday’s draw in plenty of time to be in with a chance of winning the Powerball jackpot.

Other Powerball News

Saturday’s draw will be the last with the current Power Play format. Currently, players who opt to play Power Play receive set prizes ranging from 2x to 4x the value of the standard Powerball prize. However, from the drawing on Wednesday January 22 2014, the Power Play prizes will be multiplied by 2, 3, 4 or 5.

The change will apply to secondary prizes excluding the Match 5 prize tier. In this tier players opting for the Power Play, and who go on to match five main numbers, will still win $2 million instead of the standard $1 million prize.
